This Is Not Happening
Looking at Walt, a middle-aged man in the suburbs, you’d never suspect that he used to be a contract killer. And that’s exactly how he likes it.
But Walt used to be a hitman, a really good hitman. Until he received some really bad information and took out the wrong person. After the mistaken assignment, the young child who witnessed the murder of his father starts to materialize in Walt’s imagination at crucial moments, causing Walt to resign from the profession.
Fast forward almost twenty years. Walt now works in insurance. It’s a long way from killing people for lots of money. But it's also a world away from his fatal mistake. That is until the kid from the accidental hit, now an adult, is hired at his company. The kid is unaware of who his coworker really is, but his new employment will set their lives on an unavoidable collision course.

Hi! I'm Julie Mech, like heck. Thank you for visiting my author website. I've been writing since elementary school. But I've graduated from reimagining my favorite Encyclopedia Brown books to creating my own, original work. My book This Is Not Happening asks, what would you do if your worst secret suddenly dropped into your life and wouldn't go away?
I often find ideas' origins in real-life events. This Is Not Happening took discarded motive from the unsolved murder of Alistair Wilson in the Scottish Highlands- what if it was a case of mistaken identity- and brought it across the pond. You can learn more about Wilson's case in the Doorstep Murder podcast on BBC Radio Scotland.
